A Rogue Librarian's Reading List

{September 9, 2012}   A Story a Day – Day 2

My second story in this self-imposed challenge is also from Apex Magazine.

2 – Sexagesimal by Katharine Duckett

  • The title was the first thing that caught my eye. The story confused me at first; I had no idea what was going on. But I suspect that was intentional: a accurate portrayal of the confused world the narrator, Teskia, is living in. This is a bizarre and fascinating look at the afterlife and memories, a world where moments of your life are a kind of currency and people are constantly flickering through their selves at different points in time. By the end I was both surprised and impressed by the elegant way everything came together.
