A Rogue Librarian's Reading List

{April 4, 2012}   Waiting on Wednesdays: The Calling

Title: The Calling

Author: Kelley Armstrong

Publisher: HarperTeen

Release date: April 10th, 2012

Plot: Maya Delaney’s paw-print birthmark is the sign of what she truly is—a skin-walker. She can run faster, climb higher, and see better than nearly anyone else. Experiencing intense connections with the animals that roam the woods outside her home, Maya knows it’s only a matter of time before she’s able to Shift and become one of them. And she believes there may be others in her small town with surprising talents.

Now, Maya and her friends have been forced to flee from their homes during a forest fire they suspect was deliberately set. Then they’re kidnapped, and after a chilling helicopter crash, they find themselves in the Vancouver Island wilderness with nothing but their extraordinary abilities to help them get back home. Plentiful action and romance in this second installment in the Darkness Rising series will keep readers enthralled to the last page.

Why I’m waiting: I loved Kelley’s Darkest Powers trilogy, staring a group of paranormal teens kept in a group home and told that they were crazy. The Calling is the second volume in her new, related series about a were-cougar. Do you really need anything other than were-cougar? I’m also hoping that the characters from her first series will eventually make an appearance.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. I plan to participate for the next year at least (because my to read pile really needs to be longer ;P). If you’d like to join in, grab a graphic, write a post and leave a link on her site.

Fourth person who picked this one, including myself! You obviously have great taste in books! LOL
