A Rogue Librarian's Reading List

{February 1, 2012}   Waiting on Wednesdays: Code Name Verity

Title: Code Name Verity

Author: Elizabeth Wein

Publisher: Egmont

Release date: February 6th 2012

Plot: Only in wartime could a stalwart lass from Manchester rub shoulders with a Scottish aristocrat, one an Air Transport Auxiliary pilot, the other a wireless operator with the WAAF. Yet whenever their paths cross, they complement each other perfectly and before long become devoted friends. But then a vital mission goes wrong, and one of the friends has to bail out of a faulty plane over France. Almost immediately she is arrested by the Gestapo, and it seems her mission may be over before it’s even begun. The story begins in “Verity’s” own words, as she writes her account for her captors… (Description from Goodreads)

Why I’m waiting: It was the author’s name that drew me to this book: I loved her Arthurian novel, The Winter Prince. This story is completely different but friendship, class, war and female pilots are just as fascinating to me. If her characters are as complex and developped as in her previous works, I’m already sold.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. I plan to participate for the next year at least (because my to read pile really needs to be longer ;P). If you’d like to join in, grab a graphic, write a post and leave a link on her site.

That sounds good. I will have to watch for it to come out.
