A Rogue Librarian's Reading List

{August 28, 2011}   Comics and manga of the week (4)

Only French manga this week (and not very much for me, I’ve been a in a novel reading mood). I’ve been buying a larger percentage of manga in French now that I can afford it (it does cost slightly more). If you can read French you should seriously consider it: the selection is much better as is the quality of the translations and of the books themselves. And remember you can ask for reviews in the comments.

Fruits Basket, volume 1 (French) by Natsuki Takaya

Fruits Basket, volume 2 (French) by Natsuki Takaya

Fruits Basket, volume 3 (French) by Natsuki Takaya

  • Optimistic orphan Tohru ends up living with the Sohma’s, a cursed family whose members turn into animals when hugged by someone of the opposite sex. Rereading old favorites.

Hikari no Densetsu, volume 1 (French) by Izumi Aso

  • A shoujo manga from the 80s about rythmic gymnastics! Someone was thinking of me. ^_^

Kings of Shogi, volume 1: The Flowers of Hard Blood (French) by Masaro Katori & Jiro Ando

  • A young girl who witnessed her parents’ brutal murder becomes a professional shogi player.

Puzzle, volume 8 (French) by Ryo Ikuemi

  • Puzzle presents a series of tragic, interconnected love stories. Very touching but I keep forgetting the characters from volume to volume.

Twinkle Stars, volume 10 (French) by Natsuki Takaya

  • Chihiro’s old girlfriend has awoken from her coma, can his budding love with Sakuya survive?
