A Rogue Librarian's Reading List

{May 18, 2011}   Waiting on Wednesday: A Dance of Dragons

Title: A Dance of Dragons

Author: George R. R. Martin

Publisher: Bantam

Release date: July 11, 2011

Plot: Danearys Targaryen, the last heir to the former royal house, rules her city with her three dragons at her side and dreams of reclaiming the Seven Kingdoms. But she has many enemies. Meanwhile, far to the North, Jon Snow, Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch faces a different challenge. Beyond the wall, creatures of ice threaten the kingdom but he must guard against enemies within his own ranks. In the world that lies between them, a vast cast of characters love, fight, betray and simply try to survive the war torn times they live in.

Why I’m waiting: To be honest, I have waited so long for the fifth volume of Martin’s series that I just didn’t care anymore. I bought and read the fourth volume the moment it came out almost 6 years ago and I had since forgotten most of the immense cast and a lot of the details of the plot. But I’ve been watching the HBO TV show and it brought back everything I loved about the series: the many complex characters, the political intrigue and the rich fantastical world.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine. I plan to participate for the next year at least (because my to read pile really needs to be longer ;P). If you’d like to join in, grab a graphic, write a post and leave a link on her site.
