A Rogue Librarian's Reading List

{April 9, 2011}   Bédélys 2010

Thursday the 7th of april I attended the annual ceremony for the Bédélys awards, an award celebrating French language comics organized by Promo 9e art.

This years winners were *drumroll*

Bédélys d’or: Lydie, de Zidrou et Jordi Lafebre, Éditions Dargaud

Bédélys jeunesse: Mon Pépé est un fantôme t.3, de Nicolas Barral et TaDuc, Éditions Dupuis

(This is the only one of the 4 that I have already read, since I am in charge of the children’s comics at the library. I love this series; it’s very funny. Besides which this issue deals with gender, gender roles and even touches on sexual orientation!)

Bédélys Québec: Le Suicide de la Déesse, de Simon Labelle, Éditions Les 400 coups

Bédélys fanzine: Les Pièces Détachées (t.1 et t.2), de Vincent Giard et David Turgeon, Éditions Colosse

I’m pleased to note that 3 of the 4 winning comics star characters of colour.

As usual the trophies were magnificent. Cudos to the artist, Karl Dupéré-Richer.

Congrats to the winners! And support Québec comic artists!
