A Rogue Librarian's Reading List

{February 21, 2011}   Perry Moore

Those of us interested in GLBT issues in comics will probably be familiar with Perry Moore. He is known for having compiled a list of gay superheroes who have been killed off in comics (in the same vein as Gail Simone’s Women in Refrigerators list). And sadly, he passed away on February 17th at the age of 39.

In 2007, he wrote a YA novel about a young gay superhero entitled simply Hero. I’m not usually a huge fan of novels about super heroes (I feel that comics have captured the genre quite well) but I really liked his book. It’s quite an enjoyable adventure with a nice romantic plot (although don’t ask a more detailed review of a book I read 3 years ago). I recommend it to fans of superheroes and GLBT YA.
