A Rogue Librarian's Reading List

{December 10, 2010}   The Man with Knives by Ellen Kushner

Plot: A beautiful tale of loss and of healing taking place between Kushner’s two Riverside novels: Swordspoint and Privilege of the Sword.

At first this story was only available as a chap book (there are still a few copies left for those who might be interested) but it has since been posted on Tor’s website for all to read.

This is a must read for Kushner fans. It explains a great deal that was left unsaid between the two Roverside novels. It may be a bit confusing for those that have never read her books but even if you don’t know the characters, her prose is so lyrical and her characters so touching that it is worth reading anyways. It is a short story so I won’t say more for fear of giving it all away. Enjoy.

Though I have more than enough unread books, this makes me want to revisit Riverside, Alec, Richard and Katherine. Kushner writes some of my favorite fantasy and I really wish there was more.
